Best Romantic Dinner on Grace Bay Beach

Our toes touch as we wiggle them in the sand, powdery like confectioners' sugar and cooler the deeper you dig.  Straight ahead, maybe ten steps away from our simple table dressed in white linen, is the sparkling water of one of the world's most gorgeous beaches.  The quiet whoosh of waves meeting the shore melds with the sensual voice of a local woman singing island tunes from her perch on a simple wooden platform.  The air smells fresh and salty and sweet smoke from the nearby bonfire wafts by with the occasional breeze.

TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY

In our opinion, the Seven Stars Resorts' Beach Barbecue and Bonfire is Grace Bay's most romantic and memorable dining experience.  Like everything in the Turks and Caicos Islands, this evening out won't come cheap.  You'll pay USD 59/pp, not including drinks, a price point that is standard for a nice dinner on the island.  At the Beach Barbecue and Bonfire, you won't taste Grace Bay's most extraordinary or inventive cuisine, but you will enjoy a wide selection of consistently tasty food and you'll have a unique and unforgettable experience.  Bottom line: this bash is SO worth the money and you should definitely make it a part of your vacation.

PLANNING AND DETAILS (FROM SEATING TO EATING)

The upscale Seven Stars Resort in the center of Grace Bay hosts the Beach BBQ and Bonfire each Sunday from 6-8pm.  When you arrive, you'll walk past the magnificent, mosaic-decked salt water pool to a long, slender boardwalk that leads you to what looks like the scene of an opulent, beachy wedding reception.  Bright white wooden tables and chairs and tiki torches are settled in soft, clean sand that begs you to slide off your shoes, order a drink, and get comfortable.

Tip

At least a week in advance of your trip, visit the Online Concierge to submit a reservation request.  Make your reservation for 6pm and plan to arrive about fifteen minutes early.  Being among the first guests to arrive will allow you to select your ideal table.  We recommend the table on the front left corner if you're facing the ocean.  Furthest from the busy buffet tent and nearest the bonfire, here you'll appreciate unobstructed ocean and sunset views and a level of solitude not afforded by the central seating options.  This tip will elevate your experience from pleasant to exceptional.

Adjacent to the seating area you'll find a sizeable buffet of Caribbean-inspired dishes sheltered by a white tent.  Let the unhurried sunset and the live band's lilting melodies pace your meal.  When we visited, the wide selection included:

Appetizers- an extensive salad bar, conch ceviche with cucumber and red peppers, cheeses and charcuterie

Proteins- island pork ribs, pistachio crusted mahi mahi, grilled red snapper, jerked chicken, coffee rubbed beef tenderloin

Sides- local favorite peas-n-rice, grilled vegetables, sweet plantains, pasta salad

Desserts- fresh tropical fruits, coconut panna cotta, dark chocolate brownies, ginger cake, cobbler-stuffed baked apples, strawberry and mango mousses

THE BOTTOM LINE

There's no better way to spend a Sunday night in Provo.  Arrive early to stake out a special spot.  Soak in the surroundings.  Savor unlimited island-casual cuisine.  Watch the sun set beyond the raging bonfire.  Leave after dark with memories to treasure.
